WHAT ARE SOCKATOOS?
The ultimate foraging toy!
Parrots love Sockatoos and you will too. Sockatoos are soft cotton socks hand filled with an array of fun, bird-safe toys and treats. They provide hours of fun for our pet birds, keeping them entertained and limiting self-destructive behavior. Parrots naturally have foraging instincts; they need to seek and find food. What a better way to say I love you to your bird than with a Sockatoo !
WHAT IS INSIDE A SOCKATOO?
Each Sockatoo segment is jam packed with fun, bird-safe toys and treats,
wood wafers and beads, legos, almonds in shells for large Sockatoos and pistachios in shell for Mini Sockatoos, star anise, plastic rings
dried chilies, dried pasta and fun colorful buttons sewn on the outside.
HOURS OF FUN
Barbara and Bruce Bailey met Janet Hill in 2003 when she adopted a Moluccan cockatoo and later a blue and gold macaw from Tucson Avian Rescue and Adoption, the parrot rescue Barbara had co-founded and run. They became friends and Janet also fostered many birds for the organization.
Barbara and Bruce have been in rescue for over 25 years and found loving homes for approximately 500 birds, mostly through the organization.
Barbara is co-founder and Treasurer for Indonesian Parrot Project (IPP) whose focus is saving the wild parrots of Indonesia. Bruce is on the Board of IPP
as well. They also serve on the Advisory Board of The Oasis Sanctuary Foundation.
The Baileys are currently parents to nine cockatoos, two macaws and two Amazons, most of which fly all over their house.
Janet has had pet birds most of her life and her current flock consists of cockatoos and macaws plus one geriatric chicken.
The sale of SOCKATOOS supports:

What if my parrot doesn't know what to do with her Sockatoo?
When the Sockatoo arrives, hang it on the outside of her cage for a few days. Cut a little hole in one of the segments and let her watch you pull out the treats and toys and play with them. Don't despair, some clients have reported that it takes a couple of weeks to turn their parrots into Sockatoo lovers, but once they figure it out, they're hooked for life.
Are they safe?
When we started producing Sockatoos five years ago, we spent hours shopping for safe, fun treats and toys. We consulted our avian vet and provided samples for his parrots. Our own parrots (about 20 in all) formed research panels and Sockatoos were a hit. To date, we have produced over 2,000 Sockatoos (not including the ones we provide our own parrots) with no issues.
